The Rundown: Farmers Market, Show at the Shed, River & Blues Music & Arts Festival and more this weekend (2024)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - With temperatures warming up outside, that means farmers markets are back. Come out to the Shoppes at Eastchase to enjoy the great selection of fruits, veggies, homemade jellies, boiled peanuts, I mean they have just about everything. It starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Do you enjoy walking? How about walking for a good cause, well the March for Babies: A Mother of A Movement event will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Baptist Health DeBoer Building, registration will start at 8:00 a.m. This walk will benefit March of Dimes.

Starting at 10 a.m., you can come out to the Montgomery Zoo for Animal Enrichment Day and meet some magical creatures that are featured in famous movies such as Harry Potter, you get to learn about their habitats and more.

The Health and Wellness City Fest begins at 10 a.m. There will be live music, activities for the kids, exercise demos, free food and services.

Also, this weekend, there will be over 80 authors, vendors, book cover models from across the US including local Alabama authors in town for the Capital City Author Event. Readers can bring their own books for authors to sign.

Do you like motorcycles? If so, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, The Vance Law Firm will be having ‘The Show at the Shed’ at the train shed in downtown Montgomery. There will be special motorcycle parking and Paul Senior from TV’s American Chopper will also be at the event. There will be live music and food trucks. The best part is, get this, the event is FREE to attend.

While you are downtown you can head to Riverwalk Stadium as the Montgomery Biscuits take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Wetumpka listen up, Gold Star Park is where you want to be, the River & Blues Music and Arts Festival featuring four different bands, an art show, a kid zone, and food vendors is happening Saturday starting at 4 p.m.

This is also the last weekend to catch Matilda The Musical by Pike Road Theatre Company.
