How does Home Protection Plus “cover” my appliance repairs?
When we say we cover repairs, it means that for any appliance that’s covered under the plan you choose, we will send a local technician to your home to diagnose the problem and get the appliance repaired, with no charge for the service call, no deductible and no charge for parts and labor.
What happens if a covered HVAC system or appliance in my plan cannot be repaired?
If an appliance cannot be repaired and you have not added GreenBacks Cash, then you would need to replace the appliance. The GreenBacks Cash and Water Heater Replacement add-ons help cover the cost of replacing an appliance when repairs aren’t possible.
If I have GreenBacks Cash and an appliance can’t be repaired, how much will I be reimbursed?

Reimbursem*nt amounts vary by appliance—click hereto review the amount you will receive, which you can use for any brand or type of replacement you choose. GreenBacks Cash reimbursem*nt applies only to the appliances that are covered under your plan and is limited to a total of $2,500 per year.
Can I add my plan to my utility bill, and will it interfere with my current DTE payment plan?
The charge for the plan you select will appear on the same account and billing statement as your utility bill. If you are on a payment plan, such as Budget Wise Bill or Low-Income Self-Sufficiency Plan (LSP), you must make your plan payment, including your Home Protection Plus payment, by the due date on your billing statement. If you do not make the full payment by the due date, the amount you pay will go toward your utility balance first. If you need to add to your payment to cover your Home Protection Plus amount, you can call our toll-free call center, and one of our representatives will be able to help you.
Can I make a claim for service right away?
For all protection plans and the air conditioning add-on, your coverage will begin 15 days after enrollment. For GreenBacks Cash protection, coverage begins 30 days after enrollment. For the Water Heater Replacement add-on, your coverage will begin 90 days after enrollment.
Can I buy Home Protection Plus if I am a Consumers Energy gas or electric customer?
Yes. Eligibility is open to all Michigan residents. We have DTE technicians throughout the state, so trusted local professionals will be available to you and can repair your appliances regardless of which gas or electric company provides your service.

Coverage details as well as Terms and Conditions can be found at HPPservices.com/TermsConditions. The Home Protection Plus program is not regulated by the Michigan Public Service Commission. Repair service programs may be available from other providers. By signing up for Home Protection Plus repair coverage, you are not switching your electric or natural gas utility and service. Your regulated utility rates and the conditions of your service are not affected by activation of Home Protection Plus or by your decision to use the services of another repair service provider.

One card per enrollment. Gift card incentives are for new registrations only. Plans are not available in all areas. Gift cards are awarded based on plan type: $50 for Whole Home, Whole Home Deductible, Platinum and Ultimate Plans; $25 for Kitchen, Laundry, Plumbing, Plumbing Deductible and Pocket Geek Home; $20 for Convenience, Core, Core Deductible and Core + A/C; $15 for Basic; $10 for Electric Line Protection, SmartGuard A/C, SmartGuard Furnace and SmartGuard Combo.
