Mad For Mid Century: Mid Century Modern Color Palette Trends

So today I’m sharing eight classic MCM color palettes, from neutral to bold, and their coordinating paint colors. I hope you find something to inspire you to remodel your home!

Mid-century modern design is known for bringing the outdoors into the space with large windows, atriums, and natural features. A neutral, earthy color palette works well.

For the bedroom, try light gray or white wall paint with dark gray and wood accents. This modern color palette creates a relaxing atmosphere.

Midcentury Modern Paint Colors

Benjamin Moore’s Robin’s Nest is a gorgeous neutral Aqua shade. It’s light, airy and not too dark. Pair it with bright white and fun gray details.

Don’t be afraid of dark colors either. While I prefer the walls to be more neutral, these bold palettes are fun for furniture, artwork, and other accessories.

Any of these colors when combined with neutrals such as white or brown make for an eye-catching front door.

A Stunning Exterior Makeover

This living room uses orange and turquoise colors with black and white accents. Turquoise works well with pale oranges, as well as pink oranges like Benjamin Moore’s Tawny Day Lily.

From coral bathrooms to pink bedrooms, pink was a big deal mid-century and is still a hit.

It also goes well with beautiful shades of purple. In my master bathroom, I painted the walls light pink and dark gray and complemented it with turquoise details on this window valance.

When it comes to exterior paint, mid-century modern homes tend to have a neutral base color — such as a shade of gray, brown/beige, or white — paired with splashes of color.

I created a lodge feel with a solid Sherwin Williams Shagbark stain and also used Cooled Blue to tie in the turquoise accents throughout the house.

I love how my exterior paint colors turned out! But it would be easier to stick to a smaller palette for the interior.
