Agnes Ripple Adams Scholarship

Number of Awards: 4-6

Award Amount: $450-$550

The scholarship is intended for new undergraduate students entering the College of Nursing. Funding should go towards tuition, books and room/board. Students receiving the scholarship must be in good academic standing and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Aladino and Nellie Matteucci Endowed Scholarship

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amount: $300-$600

The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Recipients must be newly admitted to a MSN or PhD program. This is a merit-based scholarship; recipients must be enrolled full-time and demonstrate academic achievement.

American GI Forum of Albuquerque Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 4-6

Award Amount: $500-$600

Recipients of the scholarship must be a full-time BSN, MSN or PhD College of Nursing student. First preference will be given to residents of Albuquerque or Rio Rancho, who are of Hispanic heritage and/or are a veteran. The recipients must be making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree, while maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or better.

HRSA Advanced Nursing Education Workforce Grant (ANEW)

Primary care nurse practitioner and nurse-midwifery students are eligible to apply for the ANEW award in the second year of their program. Blanche Ausley Montgomery Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $300-$600

Recipients shall be admitted into the College of Nursing as either an undergraduate or graduate student. Recipients must be New Mexico residents enrolled full-time. When awarding this scholarship, student’s financial need and academic ability will be taken into consideration.

Brenda and Stephen Izzi Nursing Education Consortium Fund

Number of Awards: 4-6

Award Amount: $450-$500

The recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled as a NMNEC Pre-Licensure BSN student in the College of Nursing. The scholarship is intended for continuing students (not open to new CON students) and students must be in good academic standing with unmet financial need.

Brodmerkel & Brown Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Number of Awards: 4-6

Award Amount: $200-$450

In memoriam of Kelly Brown and Nancy Carol Brodmerkel, this scholarship is for new students entering the College of Nursing. Recipients must be in good academic standing with a 2.5 GPA or higher and have financial need.

Bryant E. Pedrick Endowment in Nursing

Number of Awards: 2-4

Award Amounts: $300-$500

This fund was established as part of the Bryant E. Pedrick’s Trust. It is open to all enrolled College of Nursing students. Recipients must demonstrate good academic standing and have financial need.

Carl H Feak Jr and Joy N Feak Nursing Endowment

Number of Awards: 4-7

Award Amount: $300-$600

Preference will be given to students with financial need who have been unable to qualify for federal and state funding. Recipients must be a United States citizen, demonstrate good academic standing with a 2.5 GPA or higher, and be a continuing student (not open to new CON students).

Carolyn Dooley Martinez Scholarship Endowment in Nursing

Number of Awards: 2-4

Award Amount: $300-$500

This scholarship is open to all undergraduate and graduate College of Nursing students. Recipient must demonstrate good academic standing.

Chinle Travel Nursing Legacy Fund

Number of Awards: Numerous

Award Amount: Varies

Recipients must be enrolled in the College of Nursing. Funding is awarded to students traveling to Chinle for clinicals. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

CVS Health Foundation

Number of Awards: 5

Award Amount: $1,000

Recipients must be enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program and demonstrate financial need. Preference given to students from diverse backgrounds, with multi-language proficiencies.

Dale and Ivan Melada Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 8-11

Award Amount: $300-$500

Recipients must be an RN or LPN returning to school for an advanced degree or be a college graduate returning to school for a BSN. The student selected must be in good academic standing, specifically having achieved at least a 3.0 GPA on the last degree earned.

Dean Eleanor King Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Number of Awards: 3-5

Award Amount: $250-$500

This scholarship is merit based and is contingent on good academic standing. Recipients must be a continuing student (not open to new CON students). Both undergraduate and graduate nursing students are eligible for this scholarship.

Debra Lynn Baker Mauney Nursing Scholarship Memorial

Number of Awards: 1

Award Amount: $150

This scholarship is for continuing BSN students during their L3 or L4 semester. The recipient shall be an undergraduate nursing student who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing.

Delores Thompson NM Nursing Education Consortium Endowment

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amount: $300-$400

The recipients shall be enrolled in a NMNEC dual degree program (Gallup, Valencia, SJC, SFCC, CNM). Both new and continuing undergraduate students will be reviewed and awarded based on financial need.

Diane Lynn Adamo Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 7-8

Award Amount: $2,000

The recipients of this scholarship must be full-time students in the College of Nursing with good academic standing. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded based on merit.

Diane Doherty Memorial Scholarship

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $300-$600

Recipients must be enrolled full-time in the College of Nursing. The scholarship is open to continuing, undergraduate students who are in good academic standing, have financial need, and may be awarded in consecutive terms until the degree is awarded.

Donea and Bill Shane “Returning to School” Nursing Scholarship

Number of Awards: 1-3

Award Amount: $200-$700

Recipients must be an RN or LPN returning to school for an advanced degree or be a college graduate returning to school for a BSN. Recipient must be in good academic standing, specifically having achieved at least a 3.0 GPA on last the degree earned.

Dorothy Landgraf Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $300-$650

The scholarship is awarded to new students entering the College of Nursing. The scholarship is merit based and recipient must be an undergraduate student who demonstrates good academic standing.

Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards: 7-8

Award Amount: $500-$550

New and continuing undergraduate and graduate nursing students are eligible for the scholarship. Recipients must demonstrate good academic standing.

Estelle H Rosenblum Dissertation Award

Number of Awards: 1

Award Amount: $800-$1,100

The recipient of the annual award shall be selected by Dean of the College of Nursing, or his or her graduate faculty delegates in accordance with the normal procedures and criteria used to select all award winners. Recipient of this award must also be the front-runner of the best dissertation in the College of Nursing.

Evelyn Marlin Fisher Endowment

Number of Awards: 8-10

Award Amount: $450-$600

Recipients must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time, be a junior or senior level student, demonstrate academic achievement, and demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance.

General Nursing Scholarship Fund

This is the general scholarship fund for the UNM College of Nursing. Undergraduate and graduate students are awarded based on their financial need.

Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship for Baccalaureate Nursing Students

Number of Awards: Numerous

Award Amounts: $500

Open to new and continuing undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Student must demonstrate good academic standing and have financial need.

Idolia Hawkins Endowed Award in Nursing

Support the College of Nursing faculty and student engaged in the various aspects of nursing education. It will be presented each year to a member of the UNM CON faculty or student body through a selection process.

John Meredith Endowed Scholarship

Number of Awards: 3-4

Award Amount: $400-$500

The scholarship is for New Mexico high school graduates who are newly enrolled in the College of Nursing. Recipients must have financial need, demonstrate academic ability with a 2.5 GPA or higher, and are taking 15 or more credits per semester.

Lisa A. Rossi Nursing Scholarship

Number of Awards: 2

Award Amount: Varies

Available to all undergraduate nursing students in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Recipients must be NM residents with financial need. The scholarship may be awarded in consecutive terms until a degree is awarded.

Lorene and Gerald Liesveld Nursing School Scholarship

Number of Awards: 3-4

Award Amount: $200-$500

The scholarship supports students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Open to new and continuing students enrolled in the Pre-Licensure BSN programs (HSC ABQ., HSC R.R., Freshmen Direct-Entry, BSN Dual-Degree).

M Mountain Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 1

Award Amounts: $1,000

Recipient must be enrolled in the BSN Pre-Licensure program. This scholarship is awarded based on merit and need.

Marie C Caton Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Number of Awards: 15-20

Award Amounts: $300-$500

Recipients must have an up-to-date New Mexico Registered Nurse Licensure, a GPA of 3.0 or better, and be enrolled in the RN-BSN program at the College of Nursing at least part-time.

Marie Hoch Scholarship

Award Amount: $500-$700

Undergraduate and graduate nursing students are eligible for the scholarship. Recipients must be in good academic standing. Preference given to graduate or L3/L4 undergraduate student whose performance is exceptional both academically and clinically.

Martha "Marti" Elizabeth Whiting Scholarship

Award Amount: $900

Recipient must be a full-time student in one of the UNM CON MSN Nurse Practitioner programs and must have unmet financial need.

Marty and Dave Evans Scholarship Endowment in Nursing

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amount: $250-$400

The scholarship is open to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at the College of Nursing. Recipients must be a U.S citizen and be in good academic standing. Preference given to continuing undergraduate students.

Mary Helen Terrett Craig Endowed Scholarship

This is a merit-based scholarship open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Recipient must be in good academic standing, be new to their respective program, and be enrolled full-time.

Maryann and Edwin G. Roos Scholarship in Nursing

This is a merit-based scholarship open to new and continuing College of Nursing students. Recipients of the scholarship must be a full-time BSN, MSN or PhD student in good academic standing.

Michelle L. Teachout Student Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $500-$1,000

This scholarship awarded to an undergraduate student at the College of Nursing. Recipients must have financial need, be in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be a resident of New Mexico. Both new and continuing students are eligible.

Midwifery Practic*ms at NA Sites- Nursing Legacy Fund

Number of Awards: Numerous

Award Amount: Varies

The scholarship is awarded to Midwifery students traveling to American Indian or Alaskan Native Clinical Sites. Students must complete an application for this award. Please email the College of Nursing Financial Aid Office for more information.

Peter and Geneva Meerdink Endowment Fund

Number of Awards: 2-4

Award Amounts: $250-$500

This scholarship is open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Preference is given to students who do not fit the traditional guidelines for need-based funding and must be in good academic standing.

Portia Irick Trust

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amounts: $400-$600

The scholarship is for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Recipients must demonstrate academic ability and have financial need. Preference given to L3-L5 students.

Robin Armell Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Number of Awards: 4-6

Award Amount: $100-$500

The scholarship is for undergraduate nursing students currently enrolled in the College of Nursing. Recipients must be in good academic standing and in need of financial assistance. Preference given to junior and senior level students.

Rob Rayner Dean’s Scholar Endowment

Number of Awards: 4-5

Award Amount: $1,000-$2,000

This merit-based scholarship is awarded to new PhD students. The funding provides financial support for nurses pursuing doctorates and post-doctoral work, ultimately strengthening the ranks of nursing faculty.

Rufus Carter Scholarship for Nursing and Engineering

Number of Awards: Numerous

Award Amount: $400-$500

The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate nursing students enrolled in the College of Nursing. Selection for scholarships will be based on good academic standing and financial need.

Ruth M. Firsty Nursing Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards: 8

Award Amount: $400

A 1954 School of Anderson alum, Mr. Firsty set up this fund to honor his wife, Ruth Firsty, whose lifelong career was a nurse. Scholarships are to be awarded to four L3 and four L4 students. The scholarship will follow them until they graduate.

Samantha "Sammy" S. Teachout Marsh Endowed Scholarship

Award Amount: $400-$900

Scholarships will be given to students in the College of Nursing Direct-Entry Program. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, maintain 3.0 GPA, and be a New Mexico State high school graduate. The same students may receive this scholarship consecutively until a degree is awarded, if all other criteria for the scholarship are met.

Senior Class Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $300-$600

The scholarship is open to undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the College of Nursing. This is a merit-based scholarship for new students entering a BSN program (RN-BSN, HSC Albuquerque, HSC Rio Rancho, Freshmen Direct-Entry, BSN Dual-Degree).

Shirley and Frank Gilliam Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amount: $300-$400

The recipients must be a full-time junior or senior level student enrolled in the College of Nursing, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8, and have financial need. Preference will be given to New Mexico residents.

Tara Fletcher Endowed Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards: 2-3

Award Amount: $300-$500

Recipient must be an undergraduate nursing student in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. The scholarship may be awarded in consecutives semesters until degree is awarded.

Thomas A. Plein Memorial Scholarship Endowment for Navajo Students

Recipients must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at UNM CON and working on completion of a BSN. Be a member of the Navajo Nation, submit a Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB), and a future leader of the Navajo community. Demonstrate financial need and show excellent academic achievement under distressed conditions.

Thunderhead Trust Nurse-Midwifery Endowed Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards: 1

Award Amount: $2,000

The scholarship is intended to provide support to Nurse-midwifery students. Recipients must be in good academic standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and have financial need. The scholarship may be received for multiple semesters.

Winifred Lockwood Scholarship

Number of Awards: 3-5

Award Amount: $750-$1,000

Scholarship funding used as an incentive for students going into a College of Nursing graduate program immediately, or within a year, of receiving their BSN.

Virginia S. Jackson Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Number of Awards: 1-2

Award Amount: $250-$500

The recipients must be an undergraduate student working on a BSN or graduate student working on an MSN or PhD in Nursing. Students must also be in good academic standing. Preference will be given to students who are New Mexico residents with intentions to practice within the state.
