We’ve collected some great vegan bread machine recipes for the vegan baker. Read on to learn more so you can get into the kitchen to bake some of the most amazing vegan bread for you and your family!

Simple White Bread

This basic white bread makes use of bread flour, which contains more gluten than regular all-purpose flour. It also helps give the bread a better texture as it bakes, but if you’re in a pinch, then your favorite all-purpose counterpart will do just fine, though the bread won’t be as tender.

If you’re looking to incorporate some whole grains, you can swap the 1 cup of flour with whole wheat flour, and if you don’t want to alter the color too much, then we recommend using ivory wheat flour. If you’re planning on using a higher wheat to flour ratio, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of gluten.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of warm water, about 45°C/110°F
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar or your preferred sweetener
  • 2¼ tablespoons of bread machine yeast
  • 3 cups of bread flour
  • ¼ cup of rice bran oil or your preferred baking oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

Place the water, sugar, and yeast in your bread machine pan. Allow the yeast to dissolve and froth for 10 minutes – if the yeast does not start to froth, then it may no longer be active. Start over with fresh yeast if this is the case.

Add flour, oil, and salt to the yeast.

Select the Basic or White Bread setting for a 1 ½-pound loaf on your bread machine, and press Start.

Whole Wheat Fat-Free Bread

If you love bread but want a fat-free option to maintain your physique, then this option is ideal for you. It is light, filling, and delicious.

Plus, if you have chickpea broth, you can substitute it in place of the water for a saltier flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 7/8 cups water
  • 4 2/3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of vital wheat gluten
  • 1½ teaspoon of salt
  • 2½ teaspoon of rapid rise yeast

Instructions

Add the water to the bread machine pan. Add the rest of the ingredients according to your machine’s manufacturer.

Ensure the yeast does not touch the liquid by making a shallow well on top of the ingredients.

Select the quick whole wheat cycle and press start. Allow the bread to cool before slicing.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

This whole wheat honey bread recipe comes together in a jiffy with your bread machine. However, most bread recipes require you to use milk powder, which is not an essential step but can sometimes affect the texture and flavor of the finished loaf.

There are a few substitutes for milk powder if you don’t want to use it. You could use any rice milk powder, soymilk powder, or coconut milk powder, as they will still provide a creamy finish to the bread. You could even use a dairy-free milk beverage in place of the water and milk in this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1⅛ cups of warm water or a dairy-free milk beverage at around 45°C/110°F
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ cup of honey or a vegan honey alternative
  • 1½ cups of bread flour
  • 1½ cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1½ teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of oil

Instructions

Add all of the ingredients to your bread machine according to the manufacturer’s directions. Use the wheat bread cycle and light color setting.

Flax & Sunflower Seed Bread

This sunflower seed bread also features flaxseed and is made with part wheat flour for a more wholesome finish. It’s the perfect bread for breakfast toast or sandwiches.

Unlike many other bread machine recipes, this one does not require any milk powder. Like the previous bread, you can use a dairy-free milk beverage in place of the water for this recipe, though this is entirely optional. The loaf will still come out flavorful and soft.

Ingredients

  • 1⅓ cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of dairy-free buttery spread or a preferred baking oil
  • 1⅓ cups of whole wheat bread flour
  • 1½ cups of bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup of shelled sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup of ground flaxseed

Instructions

Place all of the ingredients except for the sunflower seeds in the pan of your bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

Select the Basic White cycle for a 1½-pound loaf, and press Start.

When the alert sounds during the knead cycle, add the sunflower seeds.

Whole Grain Spelt Bread

This simple spelt bread recipe is completely whole grain and makes for a fantastically hearty toast.

Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups of a dairy-free milk beverage of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar or your preferred sweetener
  • 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil or your preferred baking oil
  • 4 cups of spelt flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2½ teaspoons of bread machine yeast
  • ¼ cup of whole or ground flaxseed, or seven-grain mix (optional)

Instructions

Place all of the above ingredients in the pan of your bread machine in the order that the manufacturer recommends.
Select the appropriate cycle for a 2-pound loaf and press Start.

Crusty Tea Bread

Don’t let the name fool you; this is a positively delicious bread. It’s the perfect companion for your tea times and makes for a great bread to spread a fruity jam on or to dip into your favorite teas.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour or a substitute for half white/half wheat flour
  • ¾ cup of extra-strong black tea prepared using twice as much tea, cooled for 5 minutes
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1½ teaspoons of active dry yeast

Instructions

Place all of the ingredients into the pan of your bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

Bake on the European Bread cycle.

Wrapping Up

Using a bread machine can be a very rewarding experience, especially for beginner bakers who don’t trust themselves enough to bake a loaf of bread by hand in the oven. We hope that we helped you find your new favorite vegan bread recipe. Happy baking!
